Potential Energy - PE=mass gravity height
The Object is not moving.
The Higher it is the more potential energy (PE) it has.
If an object has more mass than another it will have more PE than the other object.
Kinetic Energy - KE=1/2 mass velocity^2
The Faster an object is moving the more Kinetic energy (KE) an object has.
Needs to be moving to have KE.
If an object has more mass than another traveling at the same speed it will have more KE.
There are many different types of Energy
Chemical
Light
Thermal
Nuclear
Electrical
Hydroelectric
Practice Problems
1) KE=1/2 m v^2 If a bowling ball with a mass of 4kg is rolling down an alley at 20m/s. What is it's kinetic energy?
2) PE=mgh If a rock is on the edge of a clif that is 30m high and the rock has a mass of 20kg what is the PE?
